Coach Bob Stewart

Bob Stewart, at over 46 years of service, is the longest serving teacher/coach in the Mounds View district. He began teaching and coaching at MVHS in 1958 and established the first boys cross country program that year. He coached cross country until 1968. In 1969 he became a football assistant coach and coached football until 2001. He coached boys track and field from 1959 until 2004 and was Minnesota Track Coach of the Year in 1972. In 1998 he was Minnesota Assistant Coach of the Year for football and Track.

Bob Stewart has influenced literally thousands of young student athletes, inspiring them to become something better. He is renowned for his integrity and highest character. He is referred to by his ex-students as "mentor", "friend", and "moral leader". Many have called him "the finest man I know."


The Mounds View School Board has recently recognized Bob Stewart by renaming our newly renovated stadium:
